Bah.. I didn't mention I popped the top a bit. I amended the post to reflect that, too

This probably wasn't the greatest idea to use a can, but it was all that was available to me at the moment.

There are racks to do similar things, but.. sometimes, you have to make do with what is on hand.

Haha... love the story, but errr how do I say this... aren't you lucky you didn't blow your turkey by ass-canning it?

You put a sealed can of corn into the oven? That just doesn't seem safe. If the can is air-tight, but heat causes the water/air in the can to.... expand? Am I missing something? Or am I just thinking of an old wives tale about placing sealed airtight containers of things in the oven is not a good thing. Beer-can chicken is always with an "open/empty" can of beer.

Maybe you can experiment next time by sticking other things up your turkey's ass? You could try a large stick and call it "Christian Turkey"? Or you use other parts of the turkey to help stabilize it for cooking... stick the turkey's head up it's ass and call it "The Rush Limbaugh Special".

Have fun!

Corn cans are lined with various plastics on the inside to keep the can from rusting. They're harmless, but can be released when heated. So sticking a corn can in an oven might not be the best idea.
