{"id":280,"date":"2008-07-09T06:02:02","date_gmt":"2008-07-09T10:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thisfoodthing.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/09\/a-year-already\/"},"modified":"2008-07-09T06:02:02","modified_gmt":"2008-07-09T10:02:02","slug":"a-year-already","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thisfoodthing.com\/index.php\/2008\/07\/09\/a-year-already\/","title":{"rendered":"A Year Already!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thisfoodthing.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/confetti.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right:0;border-top:0;border-left:0;border-bottom:0;\" height=\"300\" alt=\"confetti\" src=\"http:\/\/thisfoodthing.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/confetti-thumb.jpg\" width=\"300\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">&#160;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>It\u2019s been a year since I started This Food Thing!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I started this blog for a few reasons\u2026<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The first is because a friend urged me into it, knowing that I like to cook, and thinking others may be interested in the foods and recipes I use and create.&#160; I balked a bit, had a false start, and then began this blog in earnest a year ago.&#160; Thank you for pushing me into it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The second reason: I wanted a repository for the recipes I use, and create.&#160; At some point, it is this collection of recipes and little anecdotes that I would like to give to my child \u2013 a memory of the foods he has grown up eating.&#160; I have memories of different foods from my own childhood that I wish I had recipes for, but moving away from family, and various other departures have not made that possible. I\u2019ve always wished I had recipes from aunts, uncles (yes, my Uncle Jim liked to cook), my grand mothers, and great grand mothers, and friends of the family.&#160; Someday, when my son is older, I\u2019ll create a cookbook, of sorts, just for him, using this blog as my memory, and guide.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I just want to say \u2018Thank you\u2019 to everyone who reads, visits, comments and tries the recipes.&#160; I hope you continue to find something here that sparks your interest, perhaps gives you new ideas, brings back a forgotten memory of your own, and makes your palate happy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#160; It\u2019s been a year since I started This Food Thing!!
